WNRV YouTube Channel now live!

We now have the WNRV YouTube channel up & running. I've posted a dozen videos from our New River Valley Jamboree live music shows to get things started (all these shows were broadcast live from the Old Virginia Smokehouse). I'll be adding some more from the Jamboree as well as other events & locations over the next few weeks.

Henry Reed Fund for Folk Artists now accepting applications for 2012

From the American Folklife Center Facebook page:

The Henry Reed Fund for Folk Artists is now accepting applications for 2012. The deadline is March 26, 2012. The maximum award amount is $2,000.

The Henry Reed Fund was established in 1990 in honor of old-time fiddler Henry Reed, to provide support for activities directly involving folk artists, especially when the activities reflect, draw upon, or strengthen the collections of the American Folklife Center. The full details are at the link. Good luck!

Mountain Music Show Archive Updated

The Mountain Music Shows from 11/29/11 through 2/14/12 are now available for download in our Archive. A bit of a backlog had piled up but these now have been processed. I have split the Mountain Music Show Archive into separate pages for each year so that they are easier to navigate.

As always, I post the playlist for each week's show is in the Music forum. I also post the info for our New River Valley Jamboree live music show there, so you can keep up with what live bands we'll have each Saturday from 3-4 PM.

Looking for bands for NRV Jamboree live show

We're looking for bluegrass & old-time bands to play for our New River Valley Jamboree show. The NRV Jamboree is our live music show that airs from 3-4 PM on Saturday. The show is currently being broadcast live from the Old Virginia Smokehouse, so there is the added bonus of the delicious Smokehouse food (smoked pork, beef brisket, chicken, ribs, etc).

If you're interested (&/or know someone who might be), please let me know.

New Shows

We're kicking off the new year with some new shows!

Starting this week, we've added Del McCoury's Blue Side of Town on Wednesday at 1 PM.

On the second Wednesday of each month, we'll have the Bluegrass Unlimited Top 30 Countdown with Lee Michael Dempsey from 10 AM - noon. We'll continue to have Tom Henderson & Terry Herd on the other Wednesdays.

Give them a listen & let us know what you think...
