Hokies beat Wake 87 to 83. Delaney pours in 31 and the come back from a 15 point 1st half defecit to get the win. It was ugly once again but we will take wins any way they come.

How many better unranked 21-4 teams in the country? :-)
This was a huge win for the Hokies. A victory over the 23rd ranked team with the #11 RPI rating was impressive, particularly by coming back from being down by 11 in the second half. This is 5 wins in a row, but they still need to finish strong in closing out the rest of their schedule.
Zo's fast break dunk after the Raines' block was sweet, that got the crowd even more pumped. The decision earlier in the season to let the students in for free to fill any empty seats was a wise one, that can add a lot to the atmosphere. Delaney was red hot & it was great to see the rest of the team contribute. Sunday's game @ Duke looms even bigger now.

When was the last time ...
The 72 NIT championship team was the last to go undefeated in the Cassell?
This got me thinking back to the Dell Curry days when I was in Blacksburg, so I had to check the stats to make sure I remembered correctly. The 1985 team only had one home loss to Louisville & ended up 22-7 in regular season (that Pervis Ellison-led Louisville team beat Duke in the final). But...that season for the Hokies ended with losses in the 1st round of both the Metro & NCAA tournaments, this season will hopefully have a better ending.
The 94 & 95 teams also each had only one loss at home (with NIT championship & NCAA appearance). Bill Foster was a great coach.
