MED Tournament now live on the air
Our all-day live coverage of the Mountain Empire District basketball tournament is now on the air (& our live stream). Bland (1) defeated Galax (4) 45-39 in the first girls' game. The girls' Narrows (2)-Fort Chiswell (3) game is up next, followed by the boys' Narrows (4)-Grayson (1) game.

Champs: Bland girls & Grayson boys
The Bland girls & Grayson County boys are the MED tournament champions. Bland defeated Fort Chiswell 58-43 in the girls' final & Grayson County beat Fort Chiswell 86-81 for the boys' title. Both winning teams were also the regular season champions.
Congratulations to both teams & good luck in the state playoffs. This was a great MED tournament & we enjoyed covering all 6 games live.
Grayson downs the Narrows boys
The top-seeded Grayson County Blue Devils were too strong for Narrows in a 68-61 victory. Narrows fought back from a 23 point 4th quarter deficit to close the lead to 7 in the final minute, but could not pull off the upset. Grayson will face the Galax-Fort Chiswell winner in the boys' championship game at 8 PM.
Lady Green Waves upset by Pioneers
The Fort Chiswell Pioneers defeated the Lady Green Waves 55-46 in the upset. Fort Chiswell will advance to the district tournament game against Bland at 6 PM.
