Coach Hired

Mike London was hired as the new football coach at UVA. London was the defensive coordinator at UVA before leaving for the head job at Richmond. In 2 years he led the Spiders to a national championship(FCS). This is a good hire for UVA even though some think they should have went big name. London has connections and if he can bring a top staff he could do good.

Recruiting

Yep, I agree that he was a good choice. The UVa athletic web site announced today that London will bring 3 assistants from Richmond & only keep secondary coach Poindexter from Groh's staff. But the obvious need to recruit better in the state has been a prominent topic among the former UVa players:

Shawn Moore:
"I think it will revive the program. He gives Virginia the best chance of narrowing the gap with Virginia Tech."

Chris Slade:
"You know, the Tyrod Taylor's of the world that skip right on past Charlottesville and head to Blacksburg. We need to get those types of players here."

When Groh was hired, some said that he'd dominate the recruiting in the state, but that did not happen. I think London will do better, particularly since he is from Tidewater region, but catching up with the Hokies will be a tall task.
